Seek

In the pursuit of God is a task that unless you have a reason it is not of interest for many. When you factor all the expectations that many people have created and added to seeking God, many are not interested in the task. The idea that church is not important is spreading like wild fire. In a survey conducted 39% of the individuals said that they could find God anywhere outside of Church. With this simple idea that if you just call on the Lord that is to be found; referring to just anyone as Jeremiah says, do people actually call on the Lord (Jer29:13)? Jesus said that everyone who seeks will find (Mt7:8), even searching for God. God is very easily to be found especially in these tumultuous times (Is55:6). In fact it is so easy to find God, that this young man who was at the lowest part in life when jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge was saved.

John 7:34-38

34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Jesus told the religious people who were trying to entrap him, that there will come a time when even though they would seek him they could not find him (Am8:10-12). A famine will be coming when people who are used to calling on God only when they need him will not find him; the help that comes from the Lord(121:2) will no longer be there. Jesus gave these people the how to find God, he said that in order to find God they had to do it as the scriptures says. If we call on the Lord with all of our hearts then and only then will he be found. The scriptures tell us that we need to set our minds and heart to finding God (1Chr22:19). Bildad told Job “Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.”(jb8:5), making reference that a conscientious effort needs to be made in order to find God. Once we find God Jesus said out of your belly will flow the Holy Spirit as living waters.

Verses
Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Amos 8:10-12

10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.

 Psalms 121:2
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
1 Chronicles 22:19
“Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.”
