A measure of faith
For many people it is hard to believe or have faith in moments of sudden surprise. There are those times when amazing things happen that could only be attributed to God, but it requires a measures of faith . The bible teach us that God has given every man a measure of faith (Ro12:3). And, we all exercise the measure of faith, depending on the situation. Now, faith can diminish but not disappear. For example, a man’s child was on the verge of dying and he came to Jesus. He recognized his diminished faith and asked Jesus to help him believe (Mk9:23-24). Faith when it has a sizeable measure its powerful as Jesus said when he spoke of it as the size of a mustard seed. Faith is innate. We are born with faith. It is what helps ordinary people get to where they want to be or what they want in everyday situations. But, from that measure of faith every other gift comes and is enabled during the born again stage.
Luke 5:8-9
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
Peter, at the time when he was getting to know Jesus, manifested the gift of faith when he dropped on his knees and recognized the Lordship of Christ after obeying the word of the Lord. All the other fishermen that were with Peter saw the great amount of fish they had caught, but Peter noticed the power of following the word of Christ. The bible teaches us that faith comes by hearing the word of God (ro10:17). Peter heard the word of Christ when he said to him “Launch out into the deep and let down your net” (Mk9:4-5). Faith is heavily attracted to the word of God, and one ordinary person hears the word something changes in him/her. Something noticeable happens when faith is complimented with the word of God just as happened to this cripple guy in Act 14. Paul was speaking the word of God and this man laying at Lystra who was lame from birth, he noticed that the man had faith to be healed and healed him (Act14:9-10).
Faith is defined “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (He11:1). And, Peter noticed something tangible after the spoken word of Christ, and that was that great numbers of fish jumped into his net.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.\
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
Act 14:9-10
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
