Running from trouble

Finding ways to get out of trouble is something that we all do. Troubles come from three different sources, either they come from Satan, God or we ourselves. A trouble is a state of distress, affliction, difficulty or need. Troubles from Satan are called spiritual wars, and God has given us the tools to fight against it (Eph6:11). We cannot allow our hearts to be troubled by the enemy (Jh14:1). And troubles from God sometimes are related to trials of which he will allow us to go through for a growth or purpose (prv17:3). When trouble comes the first thing, we all do is try to find a breach or an escape path to get out. And when a breach is made, it weakens the foundation of the structure allowing it to become vulnerable.

Jeremiah 52:6-8

And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land. Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain. But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

King Zedekiah was twenty-one years of age when we began to reign in Jerusalem, and he reigned for eleven years. He immediately steered away from the Lord and did evil; got into trouble. The Babylonian army God raised to come against him. The strategy that the army used was starvation, did not allow any food or water to come into the city for about 18 months. The king and his men made a breach by night between two pillars of the city. The breach seemed like the perfect getaway for Zedekiah and his men, but it was not soon enough the enemies caught up with them and overcame them. Sometimes a breach in any situation might seem to be the perfect get away from those nasty trouble. It might even be the go-to when difficult situations come. But breaches only weaken the foundation and allow for more troubles to pile up.

Within the people of God there should not exist breaches and when they do, someone is always needed to stand between the breach as in the days of Moses (Ps106:23). God does not want us to have a go to place to escape difficult situations, because it reflects a lack of faith and trust. Jesus has become the repairer of the breach (Is58:12). And when the breach is repaired healing takes place (Is30:26).
