The gospels
The New testaments begins with the four gospels of Jesus Christ; the Son of God. And, the writers of the gospels each with their unique writing styles addressed the concept of God’s plan of salvation for his people and mankind in general. In the plan of salvation, the gospels point out the divinity, miracles and signs, encouragement of his followers, and trials and tribulations and crucifixion of Christ. The gospel according to Matthew is dedicated to confirm Jesus through the law and the old testament (Mt5:17). Mark is the shortest of the gospels and it is written for the purpose of memorization; so that we can easily memorize it. The focus of this gospel is to depict the role of Christ as the suffering servant (Mk10:45). It is the action gospel where we see Jesus doing things and more things. The author of Mark is John Mark and he traveled with Paul and Barnabas. The gospel according to Luke is the longest of the four and of all the New Testament. It is the historical journalistic book. It is a thorough account of the life Jesus Christ in chronological order. The purpose of Luke is to establish believers in the teachings of Jesus(Lk1:3-4). And, John, he is a the persuasive writer. His writings are to show the miracles of Jesus in order to make readers believe(Jn20:30–31). The gospel is arranged to display Jesus’ coming to destroy the work of the devil. It is recommended to when starting to read the bible, to read John first. Each writer left their own unique imprint within the text of the writings.
Mark 14:51
51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
It is believed that this young man who left naked from the scene of Christ being arrested was the writer himself; Mark. Jesus’ last supper meal took place in Mark’s house. Jesus sent his two disciples to prepare the meal in the house where a man carrying a pitcher of water would go(Mk14:13-15). The preparation of the last supper was to be a secret event, so a sign was presented; the man with the pitcher of water, and this was so that Satan through Judas would not interrupt. The pitcher of water was for the purification ritual, Jesus wanted everyone participating on this supper came with a pure heart(Is1:16-18). Mark was this young man who witnessed the fullness of Christ first hand, and therefore when the turmoil began with the apprehending of Christ he did not think of putting clothes on when awakened; He just put a blanket over himself and left to see Jesus in action. He did not want to miss out of what Christ was about to do, even during his arrest. Mark experience so much action in his young life with Christ that there was no time for anything else. But, when his life became in danger as they apprehended him, he left his blanket behind; that thing that supported his comfort zone, did what the other disciples did leave the master.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mark 10:45
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.
John 20:30-31
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Mark 14:13-15
13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
Isaiah 1:16-18
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
