Hungry for God

Ever since Adam and Eve and their big mess-up, God became distant from man. The first two couples had a close relationship with God having the ability to hear his voice and sense his presence while in the garden (Ge3:8). But after that God did not make manifest his presence like as in the garden at no other time. It wasn’t until Moses’ time where God made his presence felt and that in the burning bush. Then Elijah got a since of his presence when he was running from Jezabel and found himself in a mountain where he heard the still small voice of God (1K19:12-13). There was glimpse of the presence of God made manifest here there, but they were limited. And like the presence of God being scares, so was his words. The word of the Lord only came by his prophets, which there were not too many of them. So, there was a hunger for God and his word within man like no other time in history. The Queen of Ethiopia; Sheba, traveled from southwestern Arabia to listen to Solomon and his wisdom (1K10:1).  Amos said that a time was coming when a famine of the word of God would come, and people would be starving for it (Am8:11).

Luke 10:22-24

22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

It wasn’t until Jesus and to whom he wanted, that God and his words was fully manifested to man. Jesus told his disciples that he is the way to the father and that no one could come to him except through him, Jesus. And Philip said to him show us the father and it will be enough (Jh14:8-9), and so Jesus revealed the father to him. The Father was completely revealed through Jesus, he said that the father and him were one (Jh10:30). The things that the disciples saw and heard from Jesus nowhere in time was it seen or heard. Likewise in our times, the things we are seeing these days; God in his manifest presence working in our lives via his Holy Spirit, are nowhere to have been seen in times past. Paul tells us that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead works in us to bring life to us (Ro8:11). God is manifesting these days with signs and wonders, that anyone who calls on him these days are quickly heard.
