According to his will
When hard times come especially those moments when one does not know if he/she will survive, there are two ways we can come to God; for those who have a relationship with him that is. One can come to God expecting him to do what we need knowing that he can do exceedingly more than what we expect (eph3:20-21). We know that God knows our very needs and that he is actively working in us (Jhn5:17). And because we know that God is working in us without rest, there tends to be a sense of expectancy towards him. God, you have too…., is what normally we tend to say to him out of expectancy. Then there is that humble expectation that says God you have too… but do according to your will. And in this we can come to God knowing that he is almighty and able to do more than what we ask, but recognizing also that his will has to be done and not ours no matter how difficult the situation might be. Jesus modeled this at the Garden of Getsemani when he felt the hardship that was coming on him, and he prayed releasing his will and allowing God’s will to be done (Mt26:42). Joab understood this concept of; though God is able, allow his will to be done (2Sam10:12). The people of the Ammonites came against the Israelites with a big host to defeat them, and they were surrounded by them. So Joab divided the army in two and left it in the hands of God.
John 11:25-29
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. 28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
Martha and Mary are examples of this thy will be done effect. Lazarus, Martha and Mary were tight friends of Jesus. Mary was that person who poured the expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet and wiped them with her hair as she cried (Mt26:7). After Lazarus dies Jesus decides to wait a bit longer where he was at and not come as soon as he hears the news. Because even though his remaining friends were in agony, his time was not set to come by the Father. When he arrived at the island where Martha and Mary resided, and Martha rushed to confront him. Because she knew the power in Christ and what he was able to do, she expected him to come immediately once he heard the news. But it seems that Martha did not really know what Christ was able to do there and now provided the circumstance. Therefore, Jesus reiterated what Martha already had known to her, when He was the resurrection and the life and if anyone would believe in him though he would be dead would live (Jhn11:25).
Mary on the other hand came to Jesus submitted to the effects of the will of God in a humble manor. Her humbling reaction to the will of God and her contrite spirit caused such a reaction on Christ that made him cry (Jhn11:33-35). In fact, the impact of Mary’s contrite spirit was so that Jesus was grieved all the way to the grave where Lazarus was laid. David said that God does not reject or despises a contrite spirit (Ps51:17). What moves God is not insisting that he works and resolves our issues, but that we come to him in humbling and contrite way.
Ephesians

John 5:17
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
2 Samuel 10:12
12 Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good.
Matthew 26:7

John 11;25

John 11:33-35
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept.
Psalms 51:17
