Hope will not fail!
Having second chances in life are more and more prevalent today than ever. People are finding themselves to opportunities to make changes in their lives and in their walk of faith that in other times they would not have. And the reason for these second chances is because since we are in the last of the last days and evil is on the uprise, a more abundant of God’s grace is being poured out (Ro5:20). One of the things that Satan has become more proficient in is making believe that man is hopeless. Because he is the father of lies and has perfected this trait, many are believing the lie. But we are not without hope especially those who have exerted themselves to grabbing hold on it, it becomes the anchor of the soul (He6:18-19). The hope in Christ is secure, so exactly what he promised will come, and it is worth the while to wait for it. The prophet Habakkuk speaks of the revelation of God that though it tarry’s it will come (Hab2:3). God has been speaking for a long time that we should wait in hope for his promises because they will come to pass. Paul said that hope does not fail it will not put us to shame (Ro5:5). Everything will eventually fade and fall away, but there three that Paul says will never fail and hope is one of them (1Cor13:13).
Job 14:14
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Job, though he felt as if God was destroying him taking away everything that he treasured and enjoyed, had a hope for change. His change was going to come. Like every suffering person whose desire is death, Job could not wait any longer. But God’s perspective on change differs from that of man, because he is a deliverer even from death itself (Ps56:13). The change that God has plan for those who trust in him is from death to life (Jhn5:24). Job uses the analogy of the tree to desire the change he waited for. For the tree as big as it may be dies and is cut up, and though the trunk dries up yet there is hope for him. Because even though it is dry and lifeless, with a small portion of rain the tree will live again. This is what Jesus told the woman from Samaria, when he said to her that whoever drinks from the water that he gives will not thirst again (Jhn4:14). Job had this hope for restoration that only God could provide, and that is why he said that he would wait for the change. When all matter seems hopeless, and it seems that the end is near hope in God says otherwise (ps25:3).
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Hebrews 6:18-19
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Romans 5:5
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
1 Corinthians 13:13
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Psalms 53:13
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
John 5:24
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 4:14
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Psalms 25:3
3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
