Uses of light
One once said that a spark of light casts out a lot of darkness. The power of light is amazing. Today, we use light for just about everything. Here is a list of the uses of light: Photosynthesis, vision and sight, body growth and sleep, drying and evaporating, sanitation of the earth, temperature regulation, health care, communication and signals, electricity generation, Microscopy, Research, and sterilization. The light has many symbolic representations such as guidance, life, hope, morality, virtues, truth, and joy. The sun is our main source of light. A candle is the vehicle of the fire that reflects the light when it is lit, just like the planet the sun, and the fire in it. For the light to come it needs something to bring it. John said that in Christ was the life and that was the light of man (Jh1:4-5). Jesus was the vehicle of that life that attracts men, the light. Jesus said that he is the light of the world if anyone walks in him he will not be in darkness (Jh8:12).
Mark 4:21
21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
Jesus said that it is common sense when someone brings a candle to place it where everyone can see it or to light up the place. A candle cannot be placed under a bed. If anyone decides to light a candle it is to be placed where darkness resides. Our good works shed light on God (Mt5:16). He told the people that while he, the light was with them they should walk in it (Jh12:35). The light of Christ has been placed in our hearts to place it on the candlestick and where everyone can see it and not put away in a dark place (2Cor4:6). Darkness has its ways of surprising us, it creeps us when we ignore it. We need to walk vigilant. Peter warns us to be watchful because our enemy the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking who may devour (1Pt5:8).
John 1:4-5
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Matthew 5:16
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
John 5:35
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
2 Corinthians 4:6
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
